Lincoln Cathedral

Lincoln Cathedral dates back to1088. It is one of the finest gothic buildings in Europe.
The Cathedral was reportedly the tallest building in the world for 249 years (1300-1549) until the spires were stuck by lightning!
John Ruskin, Victorian writer: 'I have always held... that the Cathedral of Lincoln is out and out the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles and roughly speaking worth any two other cathedrals we have.'
Come and see the famous Lincoln Imp!
Eden House is a 15 minute walk from the Cathedral.

Lincoln Castle

Building began in 1068, two years after the Battle of Hastings. The stone walls were added in the 12th century as it was originally a wooden motte and bailey castle.
It has been used as a court and prison for 900 years - there is still a working court in the grounds.
Lincoln Castle also houses one of the four exemplifications of the Magna Carta - one of the most significant documents in British history.
A 15 minute walk from our B&B will take you to this magnificent and historic castle.

Steep Hill

Named Britain's Best Place in 2011 and Britain's Greatest Street in 2012 - both by the British Academy of Urbanism.
Steep Hill is packed with historic buildings, quaint shops, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. It is not a relic or merely a site of historical interest, but a working street where people live, eat and shop.
15 minutes walk from Eden House, it is also the best way to go to the High Street by foot. It is as its name suggests, quite steep - just a warning!
Our favourite pubs on Steep Hill are The Wig and Mitre for food and wine Widow Cullen's Well for beer and cider; our favourite shops Imperial Teas and Pimento; Brown's Pie shop and the Jews House are great places to eat.

The Brayford Pool and High Street

These best bits of 'downhill' Lincoln are full of modern restaurants, bars and clubs. The Brayford Pool is just opposite Lincoln University, hence the vibrancy. There is a multiplex cinema, a wide range of places to eat and bars including the Hilton's fifth-floor Electric Bar with panoramic views and a good selection of cocktails and sparkling wines.
Clubbing wise in town, there's Home, Tokyo, Lola Lo, Scy and loads more - to suit all tastes and budgets. There are also plenty of good bars for 'pre-drinking' - Dogma is a favourite of my grown-up daughter's due to the two-for-one cocktails. (I had to get her advice for this bit!)
